Albanian Ismail Morina, immediately after the interruption of the qualification match for EURO 2016 between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade last October, boasted on social networks that he was the one who released the drone and created chaos.
Just three days after the ruling of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, according to which Albania overturned the original UEFA decision and awarded the victory with an official score of 3:0, the Albanian media published an interview with Ismail Morin, in which he explained in detail how he planned and interrupted the match in Belgrade.
Morina revealed that the idea of a drone was born in Italy, where he lived, and quite spontaneously.
"Soon after it was decided by lot that Albania would play Serbia after a soccer game with friends, the idea of releasing a drone was born. An Italian friend suggested that we use a mini-helicopter and hang a message on it, which I immediately accepted. We thought about flag that will be carried by the drone. We had two versions - an eagle or an eagle with Skanderbeg, and I decided to choose the second one, and then we thought for a long time about the message we would write. At first we thought to write something in Italian, but later on we searched the Internet for a word that is spelled similarly in English and in our mother tongue, so we chose 'autochthonous', because it sounded elegant," explained Morina, reports the Kosovo newspaper Bota Press.
He then explained in detail how he prepared for the action almost three months before the match, when he arrived in Belgrade to tour the field.
"I took advantage of my visit to Albania during the summer to come to Serbia. I was sure that the match would be played at the Crvene Zvezde stadium and on July 26 last year I visited the location and took pictures of the stadium and everything necessary around it. On the way, I also visited the stadium Partizan, but not in detail, and I only found out later that the match will be played there. Then I used the help of Google Maps and found three, four bargainsnot locations 50 to 70 meters away from the stadium from where it was possible to launch the drone. All the time I cooperated with a guy from Skopje, who procured and delivered the flag".
Morina then told her that he was hidden in a secret location for 17 hours, waiting for the moment to release the drone.
"Previously, I had traveled for 12 hours to perform the action. The original idea was to release the drone during the chanting of national anthems. Everything was done as it should be, the drone was delivered, the cables were connected, but the moment I came out of hiding and wanted to release it , someone passed me and I gave up at the last minute, thinking I was discovered. I then decided to lay low and release the drone towards the end of the first half. I first let it make a small circle in the air around the stadium, and then I directed it above the stands. I thought the Albanian players were wearing red jerseys and that's why I lowered the drone lower, towards them, and then I realized that they wanted to catch him and take him off. I actually made a mistake, because I had the wrong color of the jerseys."
Immediately after the drone was brought down, Morina left the location where he was, as well as Serbia. He admits he was worried.
"The car was already waiting for me and we immediately set off on the highway. I was thinking how we would cross the border and I was worried. I thought that if the police stopped us, we would immediately step on the gas and start running away, and fortunately everything went without a problem." Morina stated.
He said that his life changed on October 14 last year, and for the worse, because he now lives isolated in Albania, far from the public. He has almost cut off contact with his family, while he rarely sees his girlfriend.
Morina is guilty, he admitted publicly that he carried out the action of bringing down the drone and staged the interruption of the match, but he is still at large...
