The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of the Republika Srpska will submit a report to the Special Prosecutor's Office against unknown perpetrators for attempted murder and inciting the murder of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić at the Potočari Memorial Center on Saturday, announced Minister Dragan Lukač.
Also, Lukač said, the complaint will be filed for endangering the safety of the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, at the commemoration in Potočari on July 11.
At a press conference in Banja Luka, Lukač said that a report will be submitted to the Special Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Srpska for attacking the authority of officials in the performance of their official duties, and causing general danger, Banja Luka media reported.
"On the basis of these criminal acts, on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we will present to all security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina information about the persons who participated in the attack on Vučić," said Lukač.
As he said, the report will be filed against unknown persons because the identity of the perpetrators has not been confirmed.
This practically means that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS launched an investigation, and an investigative team was formed that will actively work to shed light on the attack on Vučić.
The Minister of Police of Republika Srpska said that on the basis of information and footage from the scene, it was determined which crimes were committed during the attack on the Serbian Prime Minister, and explained that it was an attempt to murder and incitement to murder, as well as endangering the security of Pahor.
Director of the Police of Republika Srpska Gojko Vasić said that the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Services of BiH, which was in charge of the interior of the Potočari Memorial Center, bears the greatest responsibility for the failure to secure Vučić.
Vasić also said that only two men from Vučić's entourage could enter the hall where the commemoration was being held, the Nezavisne Novina portal from Banja Luka reported.
Avaz: Vučić's attacker, Almir Merdić, member of the "El Mujahid" detachment
The main attacker of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić at the Potočari Memorial Center on Saturday is Almir Merdić from Tešnj, close to the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), claims Dnevni Avaz.
Based on the photo published by the Belgrade-based Blic, the Dveni Avaz newspaper was contacted by readers who claim to know the person in the picture and claim that it is not Asim S., as Blic writes, but that it is Almir Merdić from Jelah near Tešnj.
Readers sent Avaz pictures of Merdić from Potočari, which he and his friends posted on their Facebook pages.
In Jelah, as reported in the daily, it is known that Merdić and his group are very close to some influential people in the SDA.
According to Avaz, Merdić is the son-in-law of Ramiz Hodžić Siki, who was arrested in the USA in February of this year on charges of aiding the terrorist organization Islamic State.
He was a member of the "El Mujahid" detachment, and the American authorities claim that he sent money and equipment to members of the Islamic State for months.
