At the end of May, the Croatian Environmental Protection Fund will announce a public invitation to citizens to buy energy-efficient household appliances, with a subsidy of HRK 800 (EUR 106) per appliance.
The incentive, the first of its kind so far, is intended for the purchase of freezers, dishwashers and washing machines, as well as clothes dryers, regardless of dimensions, Rijeka's Novi list reported.
The only condition is the energy class of the device, which must be A+++, that is, the most economical in terms of electricity and water consumption.
On the same day that it announces the call to citizens, the Fund will also publish a list of merchants from whom the device can be purchased with a subsidy.
Every interested citizen will be able to get a subsidy for the purchase of one device.
The fund has already announced an invitation to traders who want to participate in this project and reserved eight million kuna (1,06 million euros) for it, which is enough to subsidize the purchase of 10.000 household appliances.
Within one month of purchase, the Fund will refund a subsidy of HRK 800 to citizens' accounts, the same for all devices on the list, regardless of how much the device cost.
There are really different prices for energy class A+++ devices, so such a washing machine, for example, can be bought for HRK 2.500, but also HRK 10.000, depending on the features.
This means that someone who decides on a HRK 2.500 machine will cover 32 percent of the price with the Fund's subsidy, and someone who buys an equally economical device for HRK 7.000 will save about 11 percent with the subsidy.
