The Croatian police at the Bajakovo border crossing seized about 140 kilograms of heroin, which they tried to smuggle in a car with German license plates from a Turkish and a German citizen, officials announced today. As reported by the Croatian media, this is the largest seizure of drugs at that border crossing in the last 10 years. The official of the customs service in Osijek, Davor Petrović, stated at the press conference that the drugs were hidden in the double bottom of the car driven by a 46-year-old citizen of Turkey, while a 26-year-old German citizen of Turkish origin was in the passenger seat, Hina reported. Petrović stated that the drug was packed in 261 packets containing a total of 140 kilograms and 729 grams of heroin. He added that the market value of the confiscated drugs was estimated at more than five and a half million euros.
