The mayor of Belgrade, Siniša Mali, announced that by the middle of 2016, 1.000 more communal policemen will be able to be employed in the capital.
The mayor announced the imminent adoption of amendments to the Law on Communal Police and pointed out that the current number of 300 communal policemen is not enough for a city with more than two million inhabitants, reports B92.
"The idea is to establish better communal order through additional employment and to make citizens feel safer and more secure. In October or November, 300 new communal policemen could start working," Mali said.
Mali sees the fact that the Serbian capital is increasingly on the list of "must visit" destinations as great news, recalling that last year Belgrade had a record number of overnight stays and tourists.
Mali also believes that the Tourism Fair is well used for the promotion of the city, not only as a "city break" destination to visit for the weekend, but as a place for new ideas and opportunities.
The mayor also announced two new music festivals, about which he could not reveal more details, because negotiations are ongoing, but he said that they will contribute to enriching the city's musical offer.
