Bratunac: 22 years since the suffering of the Serbs

Today marks 22 years since the suffering of Serbs in the area of ​​Srebrenica and Bratunac.

This day was marked by a memorial service at the memorial ossuary for the victims of the two last wars at Zalazje near Srebrenica, by lighting candles for the repose of the souls of the 69 who died on this day in 1992, and by laying flowers on the memorial.

Flowers were laid at the memorial by the representative of the President of Republika Srpska, Duško Četković, delegations from republican and municipal organizations of families of captured and killed fighters and missing civilians, veterans' organizations of Srebrenica, Bratunac and Zvornik, and several party delegations.

Previously, members of the families of the dead, comrades and veterans and municipal delegations from Srebrenica and Bratunac laid flowers at the Military Cemetery in Bratunac, where the largest number of victims were buried, and at the killing grounds in Biljaca and Sasa.

In addition to the 69 killed on St. Peter's Day in 1992, 22 more Serbs disappeared and were captured, and a large number of them were wounded.

After torture and abuse in the Srebrenica camps, all of them were killed, and the remains of ten of them were accidentally found by a search team from Tuzla on June 10, 2011, in Zalazje, while searching for Bosniak victims. After more than a year, these remains were identified and buried last year on St. Peter's Day, and another 12 Serbs who disappeared on that day are still being searched for, according to the RTRS.
