One person was arrested on suspicion of desecrating the tombstone of the first president of the BiH Presidency, Alija Izetbegović.

As the Bosnian portal Klix.ba reports, 38-year-old AN is suspected of carving the word "kašikara" above the name on the monument with a knife.

Bakir Izetbegović, chairman of the BiH Presidency, son of Alija Izetbegović, was also informed about the event.

"Allegedly, he is a drug addict, he was immediately arrested last night. We don't know how he got past the people who are supposed to guard the monument of the late Izetbegović," a source close to Bakir Izetbegović told Klix.ba.

The Democratic Action Party (SDA) strongly condemned the desecration of the gravestone and called on the authorities to immediately sanction the perpetrator, as well as to determine the responsibility of those who had to guard the grave.

They were shocked, as the SDA pointed out, by the fact that those who were obliged to secure the grave of Alija Izetbegović did not learn their lessons after the terrorist attack that happened on August 11, 2006, when the monument of the first president of Bosnia and Herzegovina was detonated.

Klix.ba reminds that the explosion happened in August 2006 at 3.04:70 am. The powerful detonation damaged the surrounding tombstones and created a XNUMX-centimeter crater, and the windows of nearby houses were cracked. To this day, the perpetrator has not been discovered. As reported by this portal, Bakir Izetbegović repeatedly stated that he was disappointed with the attitude and inefficiency of the state services that worked on the case.
