Sarajevo: A passenger killed a tram driver because he did not want to stop at a place where there is no stop

Tram driver Armen Dulić (37) was killed today in the town of Zovik, in Hadžići near Sarajevo, while he was returning home from work.

Unofficially, the incident occurred when the bus driver and 60-year-old Š.S got into an argument, and Dulic joined the argument.

Federal media report that Š.S. inflicted injuries on DA with a knife in the chest after they got off the bus at the bus stop.

The injured person was transported by bus to the "Hadžići" Health Center, where he was pronounced dead during medical assistance.

The killer moved away from the scene, and was found in the locality of Gradac in Hadžići, where he was arrested and taken to the premises of the Fourth Police Department.

After the murder of Dulic, the employees of the Sarajevo City Transport Company (GRAS) withdrew all vehicles from traffic as a sign of protest and gathered in front of the company's gate, said the vice-president of the GRAS Communal Trade Union Rešad Hujdur.

He said that the drivers withdrew for security reasons, because they fear for their lives and livelihoods.

"People are outraged at the cantonal authorities. We feel like third-class citizens. We have nothing - neither health nor social insurance, they beat us on the lines," Hujdur was outraged.

"The road that is being built on the section where my colleague was killed is a big problem for GRAS drivers, because there is no stop there, and the passengers ask the driver to stop the vehicle at that place in order to get out. The man who killed my colleague asked the driver to open the door for him in that place to get out, and we must not do that," said Hujdur and added that the workers expect concrete moves from the authorities.

The Sarajevo cantonal MUP minister Nermin Pećanac, the canton's acting prime minister Muhamed Kozadra, and the cantonal ministers of transport, labor and social policy Jusuf Bubica and Muamer Bandić also joined the circle of the GRAS company.

Pećanac pointed out that the police are giving their maximum contribution when it comes to people's safety, that the murderer has been arrested, and that his prosecution is now a matter for judicial institutions.
