The leader of the Left Party of Serbia, Borko Stefanović, said today that the attack on him and the members of that party in Kruševac was an "organized assassination attempt".
At a joint press conference of the leaders of the Alliance for Serbia, the Social Democratic Party, the Movement of Free Citizens and the Democratic Party of Serbia, Stefanović said that last night's attack on the eve of the forum of the Alliance for Serbia in the Rasadnik local community in Kruševac was carried out by "an organized criminal group linked to a controversial businessman from Kruševac which is connected with (Bratislav) Gašić".
Bratislav Gašić is the head of the Security Information Agency (BIA).
"We know their names and surnames, they are people who are well known to the police, where they told me that they were arrested six or seven times but never convicted," said Stefanović.
According to him, the attack was "premeditated" since, as he said, the perpetrators were "following the movements" of representatives of the Alliance for Serbia in Kruševac.
"I was entering the door of the Rasadnik Local Community where there was a group of young men in dark clothes and with hoods on their heads. I said to them: Good evening, and then I was hit in the back of the head, after which I lost consciousness for a few seconds. I lost a lot of blood, the gash was very wide. While I was unconscious, they kicked me in the head," said Stefanović.
He also stated that two more members of the Left of Serbia were injured in that attack, and that the doctors determined that he was not hit with his hand.
"The police came after a few seconds and I welcome that the attackers were arrested quickly, but it is not good to talk about different versions because there is only one version. There was no fight, I did not hit myself," said Stefanović.
