The local self-government in Novi Pazar has announced a tender for public procurement for the service of sunnah (circumcision) of 180 boys, which expires today.
This is already the third year that the city of Novi Pazar and the group "Friends of Sandžak" from Istanbul have organized a free sunnet for boys with a weaker financial condition and a ceremony on the occasion of this act.
The mayor's assistant Faruk Suljević explains that there is nothing strange in the fact that they are looking for a surgeon who will perform the ceremony at the best price, writes Blic.
"Every year, we put out a public tender for the circumcision of socially vulnerable boys. The Turks pay the greater part, they would also pay the surgeons, but the surgeons cannot come here from Turkey," says Suljević.
The city pays for the sunnah ceremony itself, and the "Friends of Sandžak" give the boys gifts, from traditional ceremonial clothes to sneakers, sweets and bicycles.
