The Government of Serbia has allocated a villa at Užička 23 in Belgrade for use by the President of the National Council for Cooperation with Russia and China "in order to ensure the conditions for further development of cooperation" with those two countries, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić's office told Insider.
As Insider reported, they received an answer from the Prime Minister's office that the state will also cover all costs for the maintenance of the villa, which amount to approximately 400.000 dinars, which is about 3.400 euros.
When asked by the Insider why the government decree of October 25 repurposed the building at Užička 23, which was intended only as a presidential residence, Ana Brnabić's cabinet explained that the building is not only used by the president of the National Council for Cooperation with Russia and China, but that it is also available for the representative purposes of that council.
"It will also be able to accommodate visiting delegations from those countries when there is a need for it. Thus, Serbia provides the best possible hospitality to guests from countries that are of strategic importance for Serbia. Various meetings of delegations at the highest state level are also held in this facility. level, so these amendments to the Regulation were brought in order to provide conditions for further development of cooperation with Russia and China," the answer reads.
At the session held on October 25, the government amended the Regulation on real estate for the representative needs of the Republic of Serbia and decided that the villa in Užička will be used for the "residence and representative needs" of the president of the National Council for Cooperation with Russia and China.
According to the Law on the President of the Republic, Tomislav Nikolić also acquired a number of privileges after the end of his mandate. In addition to a pension in the amount of 80 percent of the president's salary, Nikolić is also entitled to an office, an adviser and a secretary, and he can also use an official car with a driver, for as long as his mandate as president lasted, Insider writes.
