Today, the Government of Croatia submitted to the parliamentary procedure the Draft Law on Legal Consequences of Conviction, Criminal Records and Rehabilitation of Pedophiles, which will introduce a "register of pedophiles" in Croatia as well.
"The register will not be made public, but all competent services, the State Prosecutor's Office, the police, the courts, as well as all institutions and bodies that come into contact with children in their work will have access to it," Justice Minister Orsat Miljenic said at the government session.
He explained that in the case of employment in jobs where children come into contact, confirmation that the person is not in the register will be requested.
According to the proposed law, those convicted of child trafficking will also end up in the registry.
