Minister Dačić specified that the arrested MUP workers live near Gnjilan and work in Vranje, while in the context of reciprocal measures he mentioned members of the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) who live in Raška, Niš, and Vranje, and participated in the actions of occupying administrative crossings, reports Belgrade media.
"At that time, Serbia did not undertake any repressive measures against those members. Our members do not work in Kosovo and Metohija, the fact that someone lives there and works in Vranje is no reason to deprive them of their freedom," said Dacic.
Recalling that in 1999, on the basis of Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council and the Kumanovo Agreement, Serbian police departments were relocated from Kosovo and Metohija and that, for example, the police department of Gnjilan is located in Vranje, Dacic said that the situation is the same in the KPS and that there are Serbs who travel from Raška, Niš and Vranje to work in that police department. He is an action of the special Kosovo unit ROSU marked as another provocation by the Pristina authorities, which can destabilize everything that was agreed in Brussels.
"We appeal for a full investigation to be carried out and the arrested to be released, because there is no legal basis for anyone to be arrested for working in the police departments that cover some municipalities in Kosovo in the territory of central Serbia, as was the case before 1999," said Dacic.
He pointed out that it is obvious that the Pristina authorities are not satisfied when agreements are reached, especially when those agreements are contrary to what they declared, when it is evident that Kosovo will be represented asymmetrically in regional bodies compared to some other participants, and with a clear indication that this is based on Resolution 1244.
Dacic expressed his belief that there will be similar initiatives in the coming days, aimed at destabilizing the situation and destroying all agreements reached, which is in accordance with the letter that Pristina sent to the EU member states, in which it calls on the EU not to grant Serbia the status of a candidate for membership.
