In his last interview for BIRN, which he gave in October 2017, Oliver Ivanović described Milan Radoičić as a key figure and the real holder of power in the north of Kosovo.
He asked BIRN not to publish this part of the interview, fearing possible reprisals.
According to BIRN, during the direct interview for which there are audio recordings and notes, Ivanovic noted that power in the north of Kosovo is not in the hands of elected institutions, but in the hands of "informal power centers", and that Radoičić is connected to this informal power system.
"The center of power is not in the municipal building, but the municipal building falls under this other, informal center of power," he said.
"The president mentioned Milan Radoičić, which worries me, to be honest, it worries me terribly that he takes him as an example of a fighter for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo," Ivanović added in an interview with BIRN.
Although he asked BIRN not to publish statements about Radoičić and informal power centers, he still told the journalist to remember Radoičić's name.
"No, no, no, let it stay there, remember that, you will have the name there," Ivanovic said, when the journalist started crossing out Radoičić's name in his notebook.
Radoičić, who has come to the center of media attention, maintains close ties with political elites in Kosovo and Serbia, including ties with Vučić and Kosovo Prime Minister Ramuš Haradinaj.
Radoičić, a close associate of the controversial businessman from Kosovo Zvonko Veselinović, is also known to the Serbian judiciary, which conducted several proceedings against him.
Ivanovic was killed on January 16 in Mitrovica in front of the headquarters of his party.
