The Minister for Kosovo and Metohija, Goran Bogdanović, said in a statement to Tanjug that he is afraid that with such moves the citizens of the north of Kosovo will enter into a conflict with their country, because it is not in the interest of the country to hold such a referendum at this time.

"If you know the result and the answer to the question in advance, then I don't think you should waste time and energy on the referendum.

Such moves can provoke a reaction from the international community and Albanians," Bogdanović warned.

"If anyone wanted Kosovar institutions, we would not have set up barricades here at the end of July last year and thus prevented Pristina from installing its institutions," said the Minister for Kosovo and Metohija.

He assessed that it is obvious that the organization of the referendum is in the interest of some political parties from Belgrade who, according to the system, the worse the better, want to complicate the situation in the country even more.

Referring to the non-participation of Democratic Party councilors at today's session in Leposavic, Bogdanović said that "the DS councilors do not want to participate in politics, in someone's game that is designed to make the situation even worse".

"Our position is clear - the fight for our interests throughout Kosovo and Metohija through a peaceful way through dialogue...

Solving all disputed issues through dialogue is what the Government of Serbia, and therefore the DS here in Kosovo and Metohija, stands for," said Bogdanović.
