The President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Jadranka Kosor, sent a response to a group of Croatian academics, bishops and archbishops in which she emphasized that she highly values their commitment "to protect the fundamental democratic values of the Homeland War, on which the Republic of Croatia was created", announced the Croatian government.
Prime Minister Kosor sent the letter from the academics, bishops and archbishops to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration "in order to once again ensure that, in accordance with the rules of UN diplomatic practice and in other international and regional organizations, the constitutional values of the Republic of Croatia, including the values of the Homeland, are protected of war," the announcement reads.
The prime minister also invited the signatories of the letter to Banske Dvori for a conversation and "coordination of further activities in order to affirm the values of the Homeland War", Hina agency reports.
A group of Croatian academics and bishops recently visited the UN Secretary General and the Security Council sent a letter, which was also signed by more than 2200 mostly intellectuals from Croatia and the world, in which the release of Croatian generals convicted in The Hague is requested.
The letter was sent to the President of the Croatian Government, Jadranka Kosor, with a request to deliver it to the UN Secretary General and the Security Council through the Croatian ambassador to the UN.
The letter, among others, was signed by 17 academics, one archbishop in peace and two bishops, and was written in Croatian, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Esperanto.
