Several construction companies from Croatia and Serbia will soon establish a consortium that will participate in tenders abroad, announced Goran Rodić from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The consortium was founded after last year's meeting of more than 40 construction companies from two countries, writes Poslovni dnevnik.

The builders realized that they could not successfully compete with foreign companies with individual performances, regardless of their extensive experience in performing large-scale infrastructure works. Despite the excellent references, the problem is the weak financial logistics, because of which they cannot get the guarantees needed to get big jobs.

Offer from Russia

Energoprojekt, Mostogradnja, Planum, Gemaks, Ratko Mitrović, Montera, Hidrotehnika - Hidroenergetika, Goša, ABS and Minel are interested in establishing a consortium from Serbia.

With a joint performance, the chances of them achieving it will be significantly increased. A favorable offer has arrived from Russia for the construction of tourist facilities on the 150-kilometer long coast in Sochi, where the Winter Olympic Games will be held, for the purposes of which the facilities would be built.

And the constructor is interested

Serbian construction companies cannot accept such a large "bite", but in cooperation with Croatia, prospects become more realistic. Last fall, the companies participated in the initial gathering organized by the Croatian and Serbian Chambers.

Construction operatives from Croatia and Serbia during the joint state carried out works worth three billion USD per year on foreign construction sites. Converted to current prices, the amount would be at least twice as high.

The current value of those works does not exceed USD 200 million because they were taken over by other companies thanks to their financial power and bank guarantees, which companies from Croatia and Serbia cannot count on if they act individually.

From Croatia, Konstruktor, Gradnja Osijek, Tehnika, Tempo, Lavčević, Vibrobeton, Hidroelektra, Osijek-Koteks and others showed their willingness to cooperate.
