"The special units completed the task they were in charge of. Their job was to enable the customs officers to carry out their work," Sadriju said in a statement to Radio Free Europe, without specifying what exactly that meant.

He said that now there are customs officials and members of the border police at the administrative crossings and that the situation in the north of Kosovo is calm.

In the meantime, a report is awaited from the meeting between the head of the Belgrade negotiation team, Borko Stefanović, the Minister for Kosovo, Goran Bogdanović, and the KFOR commander, Erhard Biller, which started around noon. The interlocutors were supposed to meet in Jarinje, but the meeting place was subsequently changed, so they met in Zvečan.

As reported by Tanjug, representatives of Serbs from the north of Kosovo and the Bishop of Raško-Prizren, Bishop Teodosije, are also attending the meeting.

The night in Jarinje passed peacefully, and the Serbs, who spent the second night in a row at the barricades at the administrative crossing, are expecting confirmation of the agreement reached - the complete withdrawal of the special forces of the Kosovo Police.

At the crossing there are several dozen Serbs from the municipality of Leposavic who, having learned from the experience of Tuesday morning when the Kosovo special forces first retreated, and after a few hours tried again to take over the Brnjak crossing, decided to stay at the barricades throughout the night.

Serbia demands an urgent UN session, Germany ignores it

Serbia requested an urgent session of the UN Security Council on the current situation in Kosovo and the disruption of stability, after the attempts of the authorities in Pristina to change the reality on the ground - said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Vuk Jeremic.

"I hope that the Security Council session will take place and that all those who are resisting its holding will eventually give up their resistance," Jeremic said in Beirut, after a meeting with Lebanon's Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.

Jeremić added that it is necessary to hold a session of the UN Security Council in order to take stock of what happened in Kosovo and which path should be taken in order to maintain peace and stability.

Belgrade media reports that Serbia requested an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council 24 hours ago, but Germany, as the current chairman, has not yet given a positive response.

On the other hand, Russia and China strongly insist on holding a session of the Security Council, but there is great resistance to that session.

According to Belgrade media, Jeremić will travel directly to New York from Beirut.

Serbia demands that it be established who is responsible for what happened in Kosovo on Monday and Tuesday and why there was no adequate response to Pristina's act that its special forces tried to occupy the Brnjak and Jarinje crossings.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said at a press conference last night that the action at the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings was not directed against the Serbs, but aimed at "establishing law and order in Kosmet".
