17 years ago today, on February 5, 1994, 68 people were killed and 144 wounded at the Markale market in the center of Sarajevo, when a grenade was fired from the positions of the Army of the Republika Srpska.

The massacre happened exactly at noon when, according to the international investigation, a 120-millimeter mortar projectile was fired from the village of Mrkovići, which is located above Sarajevo.

The grenade fell among the citizens in the full city market.
