Seven citizens of North Macedonia pleaded guilty to joining the Islamic State and participating with them in armed conflicts in Syria and Iraq, officials in Skopje announced.
Late last night, the Prosecutor's Office stated that the verdicts for the men on trial before the criminal court in Skopje will be announced tomorrow.
All of them are accused of belonging to an extremist group, while one of them allegedly also recruited for the Islamic State.
They were arrested by members of the international coalition fighting the Islamic State in Syria in August last year and then handed over to the authorities of North Macedonia.
If convicted, they face up to five years in prison.
North Macedonian authorities have announced that more than 130 of their citizens have joined the extremist Islamic State.
