Damir Škaro, former Croatian deputy of HDZ, winner of an Olympic medal in boxing, was arrested due to the alleged accusations of rape by an employee of the Siget Auto Club.
Zagreb lawyer Morana Rabar said that Škar was reported by a doctor to whom the victim told that she had been raped at the beginning of August. The victim subsequently reported Skar because of the threat.
Rabar says that in this case she is hired to help the victim and the State Prosecutor's Office, which he expects to prosecute Škar because it is a criminal act.
"Škaro was arrested this morning, the police informed the victim because they are obliged to do so," Rabar said, adding that the rape happened on a Saturday in early August.
The Zagreb police did not want to talk about the case, nor did they want to confirm that anyone had been arrested for rape, explaining that such information is not disclosed to the public for the protection of the victim.
The media announced that Škaro, who was allegedly arrested on entering Croatia from Bosnia and Herzegovina, hired the lawyer Krešimir Krsnik as his defense counsel, who told Hina that he could not say anything and that he did not have a power of attorney.
