The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today on the occasion of the agreement with the Prime Ministers of North Macedonia and Albania, Zoran Zaev and Edi Ram, about the so-called "little Schengen", that "we have not come up with anything better in the Balkans in the past 30 years".
Stating that he was proud of that agreement, Vučić assessed that it was about "enormous" changes that, as he stated, "many people do not understand at the moment."
"There is not a single thing here that can bother anyone. These are big changes, and I know that it is not very popular in my country, but I don't care. There is no Yugoslavia here, there is only a better and better quality of life for the citizens. Maybe this someone will destroy us, but it will certainly be the future," said Vučić in Ohrid.
Asked if he would accept an alternative for full membership in the EU, Vučić said that Serbia and other countries in the region are on the European path, but that not everything depends on them.
"We all want to be part of the EU, that hasn't changed, but not everything depends only on us. We have no other path than the European one, but the most important path for us is the life of our citizens. We are on the European path, but we have eyes, ears and know how to live real life. What we are asking from the EU is just to say what they want with us, nothing more," said the President of Serbia.
He announced that the day after tomorrow, he will discuss this topic in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron.
"With the permission of Zaev and Rama, I will ask Macron what is important for them as well as for me, I will ask for support on our European path and for this project because we have not come up with anything better in the Balkans in the past 30 years, whether we get that support or not," he said. is Vucic.
