At the meeting of the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelji, with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, and the ministers, an unpleasant situation arose when the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, verbally attacked the guest, who then left the meeting, writes "Blic".
According to the newspaper, Dacic took the floor at one point and spoke rudely to Varhelji.
"He was very unpleasant. He told him that he didn't know where he came from, to keep quiet while someone was robbing Serbian monasteries in Kosovo, to keep quiet about the taxes imposed by Prishtina on goods from Serbia," says a source from "Blic" who attended the meeting.
According to the newspaper, the Prime Minister of Serbia, as well as EU Minister Jadranka Joksimović and Interior Minister Nebojša Stefanović were in awe, and then Varhelji turned on the microphone and addressed the Serbian foreign minister.
"I am the only European commissioner who reacted to the taxes, I condemned what is happening in Montenegro, Serbia is the first country I came to after the introduction of the new methodology and finally, I came here to help you," said Varhelji, as "Blic" broadcasts.
After that, he turned off the microphone, approached Ana Brnabić, shook her hand and left the room.
"Blic" called Dacic to ask him why he attacked the guest, and Dacic, according to the newspaper, said that "he did not attack him, but the EU".
"I attacked the EU for disrespecting the Brussels Agreement, introducing Kosovo into Chapter 35, and now everything depends on that, because they are silent on the events in Montenegro and are unfair," he told "Blic".
Dacic adds that he told the guest to ask the opposition what their position is on the EU, on Kosovo, on the Brussels Agreement, on Crimea...
"I also listened to Olija Reno, Štefan File and Johannes Hahn, but we barely moved forward - says Dacic, and then softens and adds that he told him that he is personally a friend of Serbia as well as his country and that he wishes him luck.
Dacic: The meeting was not interrupted, Varhelji was in a hurry
The Serbian head of diplomacy adds that he is revolted by the fact that Varhelji's topic is not only methodology, but also the region, foreign policy and other issues. However, he denies that there was a scandal in the premises of the Government of Serbia tonight:
"It was not a scandal and the meeting was not interrupted, but Varhelji hurried to the meeting with the opposition".
After the meeting, the Government of Serbia did not issue a statement.
