The Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) today asked the top of the Serbian state to approve a temporary suspension of the ban on movement on Easter, so that Orthodox Christians who are not in self-isolation could participate in the liturgy on their greatest holiday.
As stated in the press release after the session, the Synod proposed that the ban be terminated between five and ten o'clock on Sunday, April 19.
The Synod also sent expressions of brotherly love and solidarity with Metropolitan Amfilohi, as well as indignation at the actions of the Montenegrin authorities towards him.
Amfilohije and his associates were brought to the Security Center in Podgorica for an informational interview on Sunday on the charge that they violated the measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus by serving the liturgy in the Zlatica monastery and in front of the Cathedral, and after the prosecutor was informed about it, they were released.
