The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, stated that Pristina's new measures are not in accordance with the CEFTA agreement on free trade, and that Serbia will fight through diplomatic means to resolve the situation.
Brnabić told Radio Television of Serbia that they announced these new measures in Pristina and that they are "their so-called reciprocity measures that have absolutely nothing to do with reciprocity".
"Everything that we do and have done in the past in trade with our province, with Kosovo and Metohija, is in accordance with the CEFTA agreement. So you cannot have reciprocity measures if it is not in accordance with the CEFTA free trade agreement which is and Pristina signed," Brnabić said.
She pointed out that the measures in Pristina are also in contradiction with the Stabilization and Association Agreement and that something can possibly be changed only if the Cefta agreement is changed.
"The fact that you are changing some things, and that these things are in contradiction with the agreements that you signed - the CEFTA agreement, and therefore the Stabilization and Association Agreement, then it is the same as having 100 percent taxes and that is a violation of both of those agreement", Prime Minister Serbia pointed out. She added that this cannot be done if someone wants to be "part of the normal world", and as she pointed out, the first prerequisite to be "part of the normal, civilized world" is to respect the agreements that have been signed.
