Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that the upcoming elections for the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) will not be "easy" and that he would like to have a majority with the coalition partners, but that he is never convinced of that, adding that he hopes to win.
"It will be a difficult match, there are 22 election lists, 21 will be against this one," said Vučić, for Television Prva.
He also said that there is no doubt that everyone would like to remove the SNS from power, but also that "they will not trade politically" with anyone.
Saying that it will be a difficult election, he stated that pre-election rallies may be expected in the last weeks before the elections, because the health of the citizens is being taken care of due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, SNS will lead an "absolutely positive" campaign and will not send a single insult to political opponents.
"I will not flatter the citizens and promise that they would vote for my party," said Vućić.
When asked about the future prime minister, he said that he should first wait to see who has the majority, but that there will be significant personnel changes in the ministries and in the party he leads, if SNS wins.
"I respect everything that Ana Brnabić did and I loved her a lot in a human sense, she showed great fighting spirit and great love for Serbia. I also love others," said Vučić.
He also said that going to the elections was a smart move for the parties that decided to do so, and that the parties that boycotted them were at a "historical minimum".
