The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, said today that it would be easiest to leave the frozen conflict in Kosovo and Metohija to future generations, but that Belgrade wants to resolve the issue. At the press conference after the adoption of the EU Strategy for enlargement to the Western Balkans, she said that the agreement on the long-term normalization of relations with Pristina was something that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić initiated through an internal dialogue, regardless of European integration. Jadranka Joksimović, the minister in charge of European integration, said that there is no time frame for signing such an agreement with Pristina in the EU Strategy. "The content of that agreement is interpreted in advance as a recognition of Kosovo's independence. Serbia will not recognize Kosovo, and the content of the agreement should come from the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina," said the minister, stating that Belgrade wants a sustainable solution to the issue.
