In the previous 24 hours, nine people died in Serbia as a result of infection with the coronavirus, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said today at a press conference of the Government's Crisis Staff for the Suppression of the Epidemic.
In the same period, 9.858 people were tested, and the presence of the coronavirus was confirmed in 295.
132 patients are on ventilators, and 287 people are receiving hospital treatment.
390 people were dismissed to the houses.
"The reality is that our percentages are holding up well and are slowly decreasing, and that the pressure on our health system continues to weaken," said Brnabić.
The Prime Minister thanked the citizens for their responsibility and compliance with sanitary measures.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said today in Belgrade that the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia is gradually calming down and "moving from clearly unfavorable to unsafe".
"It is very important that we continue to apply measures, especially on the weekend, such as physical distance and wearing protective masks," Kon said at the conference of the Crisis Staff of the Government of Serbia.
He stated that the number of newly infected people is decreasing and that hospitals are gradually being emptied.
The director of the Clinical Center of Vojvodina, Edita Stokić, said that this center has the most hospitalized KOVID patients of all those on the list of institutions.
"However, in the last few days, the number of patients we have discharged is greater than the number of patients who have been hospitalized, which confirms the words of Dr. Kon," said Stokić.
She pointed out that the treatment of KOVID patients with a more severe clinical picture is complicated, and she is looking for a multidisciplinary team of doctors, because it has been observed that the virus, in addition to changes in the lungs, also affects the kidneys and other organs.
According to her, the fact that, according to this morning's report, 35 babies were born in the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics in 24 hours: 24 boys, 11 girls and a pair of twins - a boy and a girl, brings a "smile to the face".
Part of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics is intended for the treatment and delivery of KOVID-positive pregnant women, Stokić said.
