Through tears, Serbian Minister Rasim Ljajić told RTS about the murdered Oliver Ivanovic. "How many times have I told him to go from Mitrovica," said Ljajić.
Ljajić said that Ivanovic was "killed in the justice of God".
According to him, "it turns out that Ivanovic was safer in custody than in freedom". "The only important thing is to find out who is behind the murder... if anything else is important," added Ljajić.
When asked to tell the viewers how he remembers the murdered Ivanovic, Ljajić said that even that is no longer important, "that he was the best politician from Kosovo, a moderate politician who was not suitable for either Serbs or Albanians, precisely because of his moderation and search for compromise". "He was the target of attacks and criticism from all sides...I talked to him about it. He understood that reality and wanted to change it in democratic ways, and that's the main difference between him and the others. He was a nuisance to everyone," Lajić said, adding that many friends who have interacted with Ivanovic recently noticed that he looked very worried. When asked if he believes that this murder will be solved, Ljajić says that he honestly does not believe that it will ever happen.
Dodik: A blow to stability
The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, announced that this morning's murder of Oliver Ivanovic, the leader of the Civic Initiative "Serbia, Democracy, Justice" represents a "classic attack on the stability of Serbia and the north of Kosovo" and on "the commitment of the leadership of Serbia, which made its immeasurable contribution to the difficult work building peace and trust among the people of Kosmet".
Dodik called the murder of Ivanovic in Kosovska Mitrovica a criminal act that shocked all citizens of Republika Srpska.
"I express my full support to the institutions of Serbia in finding those behind this murder and punishing them, as well as preventing the obvious attempt to create chaos in Kosovo and Metohija and the attempt to destabilize Serbia," announced the Cabinet of the President of the RS.
On behalf of the citizens of Republika Srpska, Dodik expressed his condolences to the Ivanović family.
The President of United Serbia, Dragan Marković Palma, said today that the murder of the president of GI SDP Oliver Ivanović in Kosovska Mitrovica was an act of terrorism.
"Terrorists in Kosovo and Metohija killed at night, and now they kill during the day. The message of the terrorists on the day when the negotiations in Brussels were supposed to continue and at the time when Albanian politicians announced the abolition of the Special Court for War Crimes of KLA members is the destabilization of Kosovo and Metohija," Marković wrote in a statement.
Marković said that Ivanović dedicated his life to the defense of Serbian interests, especially in the north of Kosovo, and expressed his condolences to his family.
DJB: With the murder of Ivanović, Serbia lost a great fighter for Kosovo and Metohija
The Enough Enough Movement (DJB) today expressed its condolences to the family of Oliver Ivanovic and assessed that with his murder, Serbia lost a great fighter for Kosovo and Metohija, who, as they stated, gave himself selflessly.
"This is a great loss for all the citizens of Serbia, especially the citizens of Kosovo and Metohija. Oliver Ivanović was a sincere fighter for human rights in the northern Serbian province. He advocated for a better life for the Serbs, but he also selflessly helped the Albanian population, which he never talked about. spoke personally," the DJB press release states.
They add that they expect the competent authorities to "quickly and efficiently bring the killers and the masterminds to justice."
"SNS is in power in Belgrade and in Kosovska Mitrovica. Haradinaj is in power in Pristina with the support of SNS. Oliver Ivanović was the only opposition politician in Kosovska Mitrovica. Words are cheap and instead of them we expect only deeds," DJB said.
The movement expressed its condolences to the family of Oliver Ivanović, stating that "their sacrifice and loss are immeasurable."
DJB President Saša Radulović expressed his condolences to the family of Oliver Ivanovic earlier today on his Twitter account and added that he expects a reaction from the competent authorities.
Left of Serbia: Fools and criminals killed Ivanovic
The leader of the Left Party of Serbia, Borko Stefanović, expressed the hope that the "fools and criminals" who killed Oliver Ivanović, the president of the Civic Initiative of the SDP, this morning in Kosovska Mitrovica will be held accountable as soon as possible.
In a statement to journalists in Belgrade, Stefanović expressed the hope that justice will be served as soon as possible, that is, that the criminals will be brought to justice as soon as possible.
"This is a terrible thing that happened. Those people who did it, I don't know what they were thinking of stopping. They only stopped a great man and made his family unhappy. I don't see what else the perpetrators of the crime achieved," said Stefanović.
He said that Oliver Ivanovic was a pillar of normality and strength in the midst of complete chaos, violence and lawlessness, and that Serbia has a "debt to Ivanovic, his family, future generations and itself, as a nation."
"I think the whole country was shaken by this terrible crime against a wonderful, brave and honest man. Oliver Ivanovic was a symbol of the fight for the rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, who stayed where others were not allowed to," said Stefanović.
He said that "all our help and support" should be with his family.
"That family is the biggest victim, because they lost a wonderful father and a wonderful man. The whole of Serbia also lost a man who is a symbol of resistance, endurance and strength. He was a friend to many of us," said Stefanović.
He added that we should wait until the end of the investigation to see if anything will be established.
"Of course I have my own doubts, because we live in a country full of fear and violence. I hope that the West will show in Kosovo and Metohija that it has any capacity, and that they care about anything, except their salaries there. On the other hand, Serbian authorities can show that they have reach in Kosovo and Metohija," he said.
