The Minister of Labour, Employment, Social Affairs and Veteran Affairs of Serbia, Darija Kisić Tepavčević, said that she will demonstrate the safety of the vaccine against the coronavirus by being among the first to receive it.
Darija Kisić Tepavčević, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and epidemiologist Predrag Kon should be the first in Serbia to receive the vaccine from the company "Pajzer" today.
As she said, she will be vaccinated before all of them to show her opinion on how effective and safe the vaccine is.
"I want to show with a personal example," said the minister.
During a guest appearance on Radio-Television of Serbia, Kisić Tepevačević said that she was proud that Serbia managed to procure a vaccine among the first in the world, "as we said it was our intention".
Speaking about the start of vaccination in gerontological centers, which should start in Belgrade and Novi Sad today and in Niš tomorrow, she said that this decision was not made "ad hoc".
"That decision was not made ad hoc, there is a coordinating body that exclusively deals with this issue. We drew up criteria in relation to the World Health Organization (WHO) and other relevant health organizations," she added.
She emphasized that doctors have undergone training and are ready to vaccinate citizens with a vaccine that, as she stated, has proven to be safe and does not cause severe negative reactions.
"Vaccine in our country, that's big news. It's something that can be a light at the end of the tunnel in the epidemic," she pointed out.
