In Croatia, today is the Day of Mourning for the victims of the earthquake that hit the central parts of the country on December 29, claimed seven lives and caused great material damage.
On the buildings of state institutions and local self-governments, flags are lowered to half-mast.
A devastating earthquake with an epicenter near Petrinja killed one girl in Petrinja, five people in Majski Poljane near Glina and an organist in a church in Žažina. Several dozen people were injured.
According to estimates so far, more than 2000 buildings have been damaged. Numerous houses, buildings and institutions were destroyed, and the center of Petrinje suffered the most. Numerous people in Petrinja, Sisak, Glina and surrounding villages lost their homes. There was damage in Zagreb and Krapina-Zagorje counties, as well as in the City of Zagreb.
The magnitude of the earthquake that occurred on December 29 at 12.19:6,2 was XNUMX on the Richter scale, and the intensity at the epicenter was VIII-IX degrees of the EMS scale. The earthquake was felt throughout Croatia, but also in the region.
