The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today that the Serbian authorities have for months already had a complete picture of persons who could be involved in the serious crime of the murder of the leader of the Civic Initiative "Freedom, Democracy, Justice" Oliver Ivanovic.
"But we couldn't be present at the investigation, so we don't have what we would call direct evidence. For that, we need either some of the materials from the investigation to appear in our hands or a direct confession from one of the participants. But a complete picture of those who would have a motive and who would be involved in such a gruesome crime of our service, not since yesterday, but for several months," said Vučić, after he welcomed the plane with a million doses of the Chinese vaccine against Kovid-19 at the airport in Belgrade. He said that the Serbian services are "doing their job", but these are "impossible conditions, because we don't have effective control on the ground there".
"The State of Serbia will fight in every way to find those who committed that crime," said Vučić.
Brnabić: We will not rest until the murder is investigated
A memorial service for Ivanović was held today in the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade, which was attended by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić.
Brnabić repeated that the Government of Serbia "will not calm down until this terrible crime is investigated", and that Pristina is obstructing the entire process.
Belgrade media reports that Brnabić stated that there were attempts at political indictments which, as she said, ended with Ivanović's secretary being charged.
"This speaks of the seriousness of the investigation in Pristina and their intentions... If it was in Pristina's interest to find the perpetrator and the principals, today's epilogue would certainly have been different," said Brnabić.
