The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, sent her deepest condolences to the family of singer-songwriter Đorđe Balašević in her own name and on behalf of the Government, stating that his songs will remain in eternal memory.
"We owe a lot to Balašević, and we will remember his songs forever, because art knows no time, knows no borders and never ends," Brnabić stated.
The Minister of Culture and Information of Serbia, Maja Gojković, also sent her condolences, that institution announced on Instagram.
"One of the greatest singer-songwriters in this region, the famous musician, composer and lyricist Đorđe Balašević, left us too soon. Generations grew up with his music. With the departure of the 'Pannonian sailor', the music scene was poorer for a great musician. He will be remembered for the songs he wrote. created," stated Gojković, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Serbia.
Balašević died yesterday at the age of 68 as a result of pneumonia caused by an infection with the coronavirus. On Tuesday, he was admitted to the Infectious Disease Clinic of the Clinical Center of Vojvodina because his condition worsened.
