Famous singer-songwriter Đorđe Balašević was buried today at Novi Groblje in Novi Sad.
As the portal Nova.rs reports, Balašević was buried in the circle of his closest family.
That portal states that the body was escorted out of the chapel by tambourines with the song "Aco braco", and then they continued with "Malo vidra", while they played "Oliveru" at the grave site itself.
The funeral was attended by the mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, and the mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, in addition to his daughter and wife.
Balašević was admitted to the Infectious Disease Clinic five days ago, where he was treated for pneumonia.
He passed away on February 19.
Balašević was born on May 11, 1953 in Novi Sad.
Balašević was a member of the groups Žetva and Rani mraz, and in 1982 he started his solo career.
He released 12 albums in total. He acted in several television series, for which he also wrote music.
The single Count on Us, from the period when he was a member of Ranji Mraz, achieved great popularity in socialist Yugoslavia and remains popular among Yugonostalgics.
During the 1990s, he was a great critic of Slobodan Milošević's policies.
