The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, assessed this evening that "concentrated" pressure from the EU and the US on Serbia regarding the issue of Kosovo can be expected.
After the session of the Presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Vučić said that Serbia is facing a "difficult period" in which, as he assessed, it will be exposed to "all possible pressures, campaigns and untruths".
"It is important that we understand the weight of the position we are in, especially now after the change in the American administration. It is to be expected that the concentrated pressure of the EU and the US on Serbia to fulfill the demands regarding, as Washington openly says, the recognition of Kosovo, while the EU will use a slightly different vocabulary but will go towards the same goal," said Vučić.
He estimated that there will be attempts to abolish the authorities of the Republika Srpska (RS).
"When you add to that the entire regional context in which it is not easy to preserve the position of Serbia, which is growing economically the fastest... Everyone else will look at how to declare Serbia a hegemon," Vučić said.
Speaking about the results of the elections in Kosovo, he said that the Serbian List achieved "absolute dominance" among the Serbs in the north of the province, and that it had a "slightly" weaker result in the Serbian areas south of the Ibar.
"We will take steps and measures to use democratic means to oppose the violence of Albanian political subjects who are abusing certain Serbian representatives. Aljbin Kurti says that he only wants to talk with certain Serbs from Kosovo and not with Belgrade so that he can say that Kosovo is independent. The Serbian people that he understands and that's why he voted for Srpska lista to that extent, but not everyone in the international community will understand that," said Vučić.
