The Minister of Health in the Government of Serbia, Zlatibor Lončar, said today that Serbia, as a member of the United Nations, will respect the decision of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to remove marijuana from the list of narcotics and stated that Serbia is already working on it.

Lončar, at a joint press conference with the Minister of Health of North Macedonia, Venko Filipčet, said that there is no reason for Serbia not to comply with the UN decision.

"We have already entered into that problem and we, as a member of the UN, will respect everything. We are working on it, and as they imagined, there is no reason not to apply it without endangering the citizens and the legislation," said Lončar, as reported by Tanjug.

He added that decisions in this regard will be made by the biggest experts in Serbia and, stating that it is an extremely sensitive topic, asked everyone not to guess in advance what will happen and how it will happen, but to be patient.

"It is an extremely sensitive topic. The most expert people in contact with the UN will provide a solution. Patience is needed," concluded the Minister of Health.
