The trial for the murder of the leader of the Civic Initiative "Freedom, Democracy, Justice" Oliver Ivanovic began today in the Basic Court in Pristina, according to the third, amended indictment of the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office, the Kossev portal reported.
The indictment will be read, and the prosecution will present a list of material evidence and witnesses who will be heard.
According to the third indictment, six people are charged with involvement in the murder of Ivanović: Marko Rošić, Nedeljko Spasojević, Rade Basara, Silvana Arsović, Dragiša Marković and Žarko Jovanović.
The defendants are also charged with the crimes of aggravated murder, participation in or organization of a criminal group, abuse of official position or authority, and unauthorized possession of weapons.
The defense of the accused, since the start of the trial of the suspects for involvement in the murder of Ivanovic, has criticized all the indictments previously filed by the Special Prosecutor's Office, stating that they are incomplete and unsupported by evidence.
They claimed the same after the third indictment was filed in November 2020, as a result of which they demanded its rejection by the first instance court, and then by the Court of Appeal, which was not accepted.
Ivanovic was killed on January 16, 2018, with multiple shots in the back, while entering the premises of his party in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica.
According to previous announcements, the trial will continue tomorrow.
