Secretly recorded conversation between Kosovo police officers and Serbian politicians: "Every case of provocation will be answered"

"No provocations... every case of provocation will be responded to", is one of the messages of the members of the special units of the Kosovo Police at the Brnjak crossing in the municipality of Zubin Potok during a conversation with local politicians from the north of Kosovo, which was secretly recorded by Klan Kosova television, reports N1.

At the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings in the north of Kosovo, a Serb protest has been going on since Monday due to the implementation of new measures by the Kosovo government, which relate to Serbian license plates.

During that time, there is cooperation between local Serbian politicians and the Kosovo police.

The vice-president of the Serbian List, Igor Simić, and the mayor of the municipality, Zubin Potok, were filmed these days coming to the crossings with the special units of the Kosovo police - that is, as an escort for the police officers during shift changes.

On Wednesday, Pristina's Klan Kosova television released a recording of a conversation between a Kosovo special officer and some local politicians from Zubin Potok.

It is obvious that it is a secretly recorded audio and video recording considering the distance of the camera from the scene and the sound quality, N1 reports.

On it, you can see how the head of the Special Operations Unit of the Kosovo Police, Besart Ahmeti, is talking to the Serbian List MP in the Assembly of Kosovo, Miloš Perović, and the President of the Zubin Potok Municipal Assembly, Nemanja Jakšić.

Ahmeti explains that if the local leadership in the municipality of Zubin Potok wants to change shifts at the barricades, it should be done in an organized manner so that the police are aware of the number of people coming.

"There won't be any problems," he says.

"At the beginning yesterday, I had contact with the mayor (Srđan Vulović, mayor of the Zubin Potok municipality) and he promised to free up one lane for vehicles. And he knows that, even though he is the mayor, he cannot control all the people who are there (on barricades).That's why I didn't put pressure on the mayor to fulfill what was said," says Ahmeti.

He also states that they were told that there would be no provocations: "However, people here as soon as they drink a little show the middle finger and so on, so that you pay attention."

"Don't allow there to be any provocations today because tomorrow you should come again with a request and that what was said be fulfilled. And I will not repeat that request again to release one lane because I know that I am putting you in an awkward position because that might you will not be able to comply. I will do that if I receive an order. However, every case of provocation will be responded to. And the mayor was present yesterday and he himself had..." said Ahmeti.

"We will convey to the mayor, that's why we came here - so that there would be no tensions, so that there would be no provocations. I think it's best that we negotiate like this," said Nemanja Jakšić, president of the Zubin Potok Municipal Assembly.

The policeman also assures that he will provide all the conditions for a normal shift of people at the barricades, as well as the delivery of food and drinks, and that he will only perform a check at the checkpoint.

"But no one will be provoked and no one will be detained if everything is in order. We will control anyone who tries to pass through another road, and the goal is to control those roads outside the main road. Everyone will be stopped there," says Ahmeti.

Jakšić pointed to the specific situation of the residents of the surrounding villages in Zubina Potok, who have to cross the crossing every day in order to move around the north of Kosovo. The policeman assures him that the residents of the surrounding villages near the Brnjak crossing will not have any problems during the trip.

At the end of the video, they talk about the number of people who should come to the barricades.

"We will convey all this, so 10 people can come, we will convey to the mayor that he had an agreement with you for 20, now we will see," Jakšić said.
