Serbian Defense Minister Nebojša Stefanović said today that he is accused by the media of obstructing the investigation against Veljko Belivuk's criminal group by people who want to cover up their direct contacts with Belivuk.
At a press conference in the Army House, Stefanović said that the source of those accusations were Belgrade businessman Aleksandar Papić, owner and director of the company Team Systems Toni Apostolović and former head of the Belgrade Criminal Police Directorate Ilija Milačić.
In a show on the YouTube channel of the tabloid Objektiv, authored by Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) MP Vladimir Đukanović, Milačić stated that it was the then Minister of Internal Affairs, Stefanović, who stopped the investigation against Belivuk.
Stefanović said that he ceased to perform the duties of the Minister of Police in October 2020, and that nothing prevented Milačić from entering the house in Ritopek, which is suspected to have been the place of more murders.
"Instead, the police raided (the house in Ritopek) only in February 2021," Stefanović stated and added that Mlačić was meanwhile sentenced to seven months of house arrest for giving confidential police information to the Objektiv portal.
Speaking about the police chief's allegations that he was part of a "conspiracy" organized by "foreign services" against Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Stefanović said that he was ready to take a polygraph test immediately and emphasized that he wanted to protect Serbia and his family from lies. and Vučić.
"That I violated the law and that I did all this in the interest of foreign countries, of all the lies this is the most monstrous. I am ready immediately if necessary after the conference to take a polygraph test in order to show what the truth is, and I hope that the polygraph will and those who lie," emphasized Stefanović.
Tomislav Radovanović, head of the Department for Special Investigation Methods of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP), said on Friday that he was "convinced" that there was a parallel structure in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) "with precisely selected people" and Stefanović whose goal, as he said, was , was to collect information about Vučić and his family.
"I never said a word against, nor opposed the politics of Aleksandar Vučić, let alone led a group of conspirators," he said and added that he believed he was "exposed to lies" because he worked for Serbia, Vučić and the Serbian Progressive Party ( SNS).
Stefanović stated that those responsible will have to explain their "nonsensical" allegations that they cooperated with foreigners against Vučić before the competent authorities and emphasized that "he does not want to go beyond that".
Commenting on the "Jovanjic" case, Stefanović stated that he supports the competent authorities and expects them to determine who and in what way asked Predrag Koluvija, the first accused of producing marijuana, to accuse the brother of the President of Serbia, Andrej Vučić.
During a guest appearance on the show of his lawyer, SNS deputy Vladimir Đukanović, who is also the president of the Committee for Justice, State Administration and Local Self-Government and a member of the Committee for the Control of Security Services, Koluvija stated that he was offered by Stefanović's cabinet when he was the Minister of Police to accuse Andrej Vučić in exchange for freedom.
Stefanović pointed out that it is up to the court to decide whether Koluvija is guilty and reminded that after a check which, he said, was also confirmed by the police, he announced that Vučić and his brother had no contact with Koluvija and had no connection with drug production.
