The President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović said that he thinks there will be no war in Bosnia and Herzegovina because there is no reason for it, since the peoples are not threatened to a sufficient extent.
"The peoples need to be very threatened in order to move in that direction, and that is not the case in BiH. I think that the peoples are simply not for it, neither Bosniaks, nor Serbs, nor Croats. People have children, grandchildren, loans, ambitions, they plan to spend the winter , not wars," Izetbegović told N1 television.
Izetbegović, the chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, denied that the Bosniak side contributes to the tensions in BiH, stating that they only react "when someone leads irrational policies and when they can threaten the peace".
He accused the authorities of the Republika Srpska, led by the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, of implementing "the policy of apartheid against Bosniaks".
Asked why he is in a state-level coalition with Dodik's Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Izetbegović said that they "all the time actually help that policy coming from Republika Srpska to come to its senses."
"We are always helping that policy to become civilized, not to implement apartheid in part of BiH. About 20 percent of non-Serbs live in Republika Srpska, and they hold three percent of positions, and one percent of management positions (in that entity)," stated Izetbegović. .
He added that Dodik and his party are responsible for the "apartheid in which Bosniaks live", as well as for the "attack" on the position of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) and on the Dayton Agreement.
"That's what Dodik is doing, these are irrational policies, don't accuse me of those things. Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina are heavy victims of Dodik's 15-year policy," said the SDA leader.
He assessed that Dodik softened his stance after the conversation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić three weeks ago.
"Dodik lowered his binoculars after the conversation with Vučić. It is no longer a story about secession (RS), it is no longer an attack on the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dodik's radical agenda on secession was reduced to a legal fight for the position of the RS and for the return of jurisdiction," he stated. .
On the occasion of his meeting with Vučić, which is opposed by many in Sarajevo, Izetbegović said that it can still be realized, that it is up to the President of Serbia to offer the date, and it is up to him to offer the location.
Izetbegović also said that the Serbian government is "helping the Serbian people not to face" the crimes committed against Bosniaks in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s.
When asked why he wanted to talk to Vučić, he stated that the current president of Serbia "did not command the army during the war, but had some youthful outbursts".
Izetbegović also said that he had dinner with Dodik two days ago, stating that he expresses "hard positions, claims that Serbs are threatened and that there is Bosniak domination in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that he must oppose that".
"Of the things Dodik says, 90 percent are unfounded, and 10 percent are relatively well-founded. It is normal for them to dominate, they are offended when one day you tell them that they cannot deny genocide and celebrate war criminals. What right is it to that's why you're blocking the state," Izetbegović asked.
He assessed that the current crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be resolved by Turkey helping "to make certain compromises".
