President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić he offered through a lobbyist Richard Grenell to help the political decline of the Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik.
As "Vijesti" has learned, on December 1, Grenell met at the Trump Hotel in Washington with a group of congressmen from the Republican Party, and the Serbian ambassador to the USA also attended the meeting. Marko Djuric, a longtime close associate of Vučić.
Grenell, who was a special envoy of the former US president Donald Trump for Kosovo and the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, according to "Vijesti" information, at that meeting he presented Dodik as a major disruptive factor in the Balkans, and Vučić as a partner and stabilizer of opportunities.
Among the congressmen who attended the meeting were: Claudia Tenny, Mike Turner i Nicole Maliotakos. Neither they nor Grenel answered the questions of "Vijesta" regarding that meeting.
Grenel stated at the meeting that Vučić would be ready to help withdraw or remove Dodik, and that as an alternative he offered Željka Cvijanović. In return, Vučić hopes that this way he could improve his tarnished image, especially ahead of the spring elections.
A group of US congressmen from Democrats recently sent a letter to the US president Joe Biden in which she fiercely criticized the President of Serbia for allegations of corruption and brutal pressure on the media, and they even demanded consideration of sanctions.
Media in Serbia have already written about the relationship between Grenel and Vučić, and the claim was also reported Dušan Janjić from the Forum for Ethnic Relations that Serbia was paying for Grenel's services in full, which was unconvincingly denied by the Government of Serbia. There were reports in the media that Grenel had dinner with Vučić and Anom Brnabić, and a photo with Sinisha Malim from the Lafayette nightclub in Belgrade.
Despite the fact that the Democrats have a majority, the influence of the Republican Party is still huge, and they hope that in 2022 they will be able to win a majority in both houses of parliament, so the source of "Vijesti" states that it is not unusual that Vučić still "holds" Grenel as a lobbyist.
Cvijanovic traveled to the United States in November and had meetings with people from Congress and the US administration, but there was no official information on the topics of the meeting.
"Vijesti" also learned that Vučić "complained" about Dodik to the European Union envoy for the Balkans Miroslav Lajčak during the last meeting in Belgrade.
