Đilas: It is realistic for the opposition to get more votes than SNS, to win in Belgrade...

The President of the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), Dragan Đilas, said that it is completely realistic for the opposition to get more votes in the parliamentary elections in Serbia than the list of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), to win in Belgrade and for the opposition's candidate to enter the second round of the presidential elections.

"This is shown by all the research we've been doing for more than a year, as well as conversations with people all over Serbia, which we visited all over. In the last two years, I've been to Kuršumlija, say, six times... I know how people reacted to us two years ago, and how they react now," said Đilas, for the new issue of the weekly NIN.

As he pointed out, "with all the campaign that naturally leaves consequences, I am absolutely convinced that after April we will have a different Serbia".

He said that he "always advocated for a single list of all those who do not cooperate with Aleksandar Vučić in any way".

"We came together on that principle, but there are other such organizations, like those gathered around the green agenda. They believe that they should go alone, and I respect that, although I think it's better that we all go together," said Đilas, when reminded that the group that is going to the elections together, including the SSP, has sent an invitation to others as well.

As he added, "we are talking to respectable and courageous people gathered in the Assembly of Free Serbia, we want other non-party figures to be on the list".

"I would like people who are victims of this regime to be there as well. They all deserve to wait as long as it takes for their decision," said Đilas, and when asked if they will be on the list, he answered: "I will. I am the president of the largest opposition party."

He also stated that the energy of the protest cannot be used up, "it always remains somewhere".

"Savo Manojlović and his organization started the story, people took to the streets, protested, they were not afraid of the beaters or the police. No political organization should interfere in this, except that we as citizens should be present and thus contribute to the fight for the common good," said Đilas.

According to his words, people are on the street not only because of the Law on Expropriation, but because of everything that is happening, but there is no basis for any political organization to add any demands.
