The Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, said that the US decision to impose sanctions on him and the Banja Luka Alternative Television (STV) is "so senseless" that he does not know how to comment on it.
"Perhaps the first thing that catches the eye is the time when this decision is announced, that is, on the eve of the most joyous Christian holiday, Christmas. Historically, as a nation, we have been attacked precisely on major holidays, and I know that those who are behind this decision know that," said Dodik for the newspaper agency Srna.
He said that "the country, which prides itself on human rights and freedom of the media, sanctioned the media".
"If that's not an attack on freedom of expression and free speech, I don't know what is," said Dodik.
He said that "he was punished again, and he doesn't know why".
"For the first time, they said that I was violating the Dayton Peace Agreement, without specifying what I violated the Dayton Peace Agreement. Now, as I hear, I am also being accused of corruption, and there are no criminal proceedings against me for corruption either in BiH or anywhere in the world. ", said Dodik.
Dodik claims that in no way did he question the constitutional order in BiH or its stability, adding that it remains unclear what the creators of these sanctions had in mind when they decided to punish him again.
"These are sanctions that were lobbied by several American officials, who do not share the vision of Bosnia and Herzegovina that I have and that was signed in 1995. If they think that they will discipline me like this, they are seriously mistaken. I am only now getting a new motive to fight for the rights that are ours. they are stealing 26 years," said Dodik.
According to him, the decision of the USA to sanction him again came on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the existence of Republika Srpska, which, as he stated, should sway him in the fight for the rights of Republika Srpska.
"I am afraid that everything they have done is little to stop me, because I was not elected to represent the American interests, but the interests of the people of Republika Srpska. As long as I am engaged in this work, it will be like this," Dodik said.
The Ministry of Finance of the United States of America (USA) today announced new sanctions for the Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH and the leader of the ruling Union of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik for, as explained, undermining the stability of BiH, corruption and endangering the peace agreement.
A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), the ruling party in the RS, whose leader is Milorad Dodik, has been announced for tonight.
