The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the President of the Democratic Action Party (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović assessed today that what the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, is doing harms everyone, and above all the Serbs in the Republika Srpska, and that Belgrade is sending a bad message by its representatives are present at the RS Day celebration.
"They are sending a very bad message, they are joining the celebration of the date when the Serbian deputies in the Parliament of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to divide Bosnia and Herzegovina in such a way as to territorially demarcate the Croats and Muslims. It is a direct opposition to the decision of the Constitutional Court, which abolished this holiday as discriminatory, and a direct support for the secessionist policy of Dodik and the SNSD", said Izetbegović in an interview with the Sarajevo portal Faktor.
When asked how he interprets the message of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, regarding the US sanctions against Milorad Dodik, that "he will not implement any sanctions against his people", Izetbegović said that no one expects sanctions against "the people", nor were they imposed on "the people".
According to him, the sanctions were imposed on individuals who harm the people and who, as he claims, "steal and lead them into conflict, into retrogression".
"Vučić also declared for Duško Kornjača, accused of crimes against humanity, that he 'will not arrest and deliver Serbs'. Vučić, unfortunately, still divides people into Serbs and non-Serbs, and we are very much in the 21st century," Izetbegović believes.
When asked about Vučić's comment about the film "Quo Vadis, Aida?" and allegations that he financed that film, Izetbegović said that he did not do it, but that he would be proud if he did, reports Tanjug.
He also said that he doesn't understand "how you can have a bad connotation" about anything related to, as he said, "a great and very sad work of art".
"Serbian nationalists are not ready to face themselves and their people with the truth, and they have been ruling for decades. And that is a huge problem for Serbs, and for us who share our living space and destiny with them," claims Izetbegovoć.
Regarding the sanctions imposed by the US on Milorad Dodika, he believes that this is the beginning of the introduction of sanctions, and that they will have to cover a wide range of people and be effective in order to achieve the goal.
When it comes to RS's decision to return jurisdiction, Izetbegović says that he does not believe that Dodik will withdraw.
"His main goal is to abolish the Court and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, reduce them to the entity level where he will have the judicial system under control, and then win the October elections, presenting himself as a fighter for the independence of the RS," claims Izetbegović.
He added that the talks can continue, that the SDA will always respond, but he says that there will be no negotiations "about the weakening of the state and the return of jurisdiction".
"Inc's law will not be withdrawn, state property will not be transferred to the entities," said Izetbegović.
He accuses Dodik of attacking the constitutional and legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and of threatening little by little to attack the territorial integrity of the country, and then accuses the Bosniaks of being to blame for the eventual conflict.
Regarding Dodik's assessment that Republika Srpska is a stable and self-sustaining community, unlike BiH, Izetbegović says that despite the almost complete blockade of state institutions by the SNSD, Bosnia and Herzegovina functions better than the RS.
