Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Milorad Dodik announced again today that the Republika Srpska (RS) will work on the formation of its army.
Dodik stated that, according to the original Dayton, the army and defense are under the competence of the entity, adding that "due to the current disturbed relations, the RS is considering returning these competences".
He reminded that the Parliament of the RS had already made a decision to withdraw the previously given approval for the formation of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"On the basis of that withdrawn consent, lawyers will define a certain legal framework and we will continue to move through it," said Dodik.
He further pointed out that January 9 remains the Day of the RS, regardless of how anyone treats it, including the USA (United States of America).
According to him, RS Day was regularly celebrated for more than a decade, until SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović requested that it be banned.
"Now we should accept it because Izetbegović doesn't like January 9 to be Republic Day. Of course we won't accept it, it's monstrous in itself. The fact is that Bakir Izetbegović asked for it and the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina accepted that his request", emphasized Dodik.
He pointed out that incidents in the RS were discussed during the RS Day celebration, and that the events in Bužim "went unnoticed by those who attack the RS because of the Republic Day".
"On the one hand, there is a problem when regular police forces go out on the street, where they are, by the way, every day, and the problem is not the arming and the new formation of the ``Green Berets'' and that does not cause any reaction," said Dodik.
The 29th anniversary of the "Lightning 93" military action was marked in Bužim yesterday, and the Association "Nanićevi Bužimljani" published on Facebook videos of people marching in uniforms, with war flags of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, shouting "Allahu Akbar".
Some of the participants had masks on their faces, and there were children among them.
Dodik also said that Major of the former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) Milan Tepić is a "hero of the Serbian people", stating that the opening of a memorial plaque in his honor in Banja Luka is "a way of paying tribute to important people in Serbian history".
"We don't argue with other nations that they do it. They do it on their own territory and we can't even prevent it. Milan Tepić is a man who has a very important place in the collective memory of the Serbian people," he pointed out.
