The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Ferizaj (Uroševac) confirmed to Radio Free Europe (RSE) that the Kosovo authorities are looking for the vice-president of the Serbian List, Milan Radoičić, for his involvement in the "Brezovic" case.
"Radoičić is suspected of intimidation during the criminal proceedings, as he is suspected of obstructing witnesses, of trying to intimidate them so that they would not testify," announced the prosecutor of the basic prosecution in Ferizaj. So far, over ten people have been arrested on suspicion of corrupt activities in the Brezovica ski center.
The Kosovo Police previously announced that the suspension of three police officers was proposed due to the incident that occurred on February 3 at the Brnjak crossing - when the person on the warrant with the initials MR managed to escape back to Serbia, while the personal documents remained with the officers.
The statement did not specify who it was, while the local media in Kosovo announced that it was Milan Radoičić.
How did Radoičić escape to Serbia?
In the subsequent police announcement, the situation in which Radoičić managed to escape from the police at the Brnjak crossing was explained.
According to reports, on Thursday afternoon, a vehicle carrying a man of Serbian nationality with the initials MR arrived from the direction of Serbia, and officers at the crossing began a routine control of the vehicle.
When they asked him to park the vehicle for further investigation, he quickly drove the car back towards the territory of Serbia, it is stated.
They note that the border is integrated and that the police officers failed to prevent this move by Radoičić.
"The competent prosecutor was informed about the case, who recommended the initiation of proceedings for obstructing an official in the performance of his duties," according to the police.
The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo has announced that an investigation has been launched against the policemen who escaped from the warrant of the MR in Brnjak due to the suspicion that they have committed the criminal offense of abuse of official position or authority.
"Investigators, in full coordination with the state prosecutor's office, will continue to undertake other investigative actions in order to fully elucidate all the circumstances related to this case," the announcement states.
