Slovenia has so far paid 19 million euros for vaccines against covid-68,5, and due to the expiration date or improper storage, about 2,5 percent, or 74.000 doses, were discarded, the Ministry of Health announced.
The Ministry of Health stated that the percentage of discarded vaccine doses is relatively small, that the terms of use vary greatly, and that they are working hard to ensure that the vaccines are used in a timely manner, in Slovenia or another country, reports Hina.
Slovenia has so far donated surplus doses to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Egypt and the Cape Verde Islands, and through the international aid mechanism, Kovaks will allocate 1,5 million doses.
In the 14 months since vaccination began in Slovenia, 57,7 percent of the total population has been immunized to date, and in recent months, interest in vaccination has declined.
