Kosovo's chief negotiator in the dialogue with Belgrade, Besnik Bisljimi, said that recognition is not being negotiated with Serbia, but a general agreement centered on mutual recognition, as the aspiration is to normalize relations.
"We are not negotiating about recognition, but about a general agreement with Serbia, at the center of which is recognition, because we strive to normalize relations with the neighboring country," he said.
Bisljimi emphasized to the Kosovo media that the timing of the end of the dialogue does not depend only on Kosovo, as well as that he will not sign any agreement with Serbia that contradicts the interests of Kosovo, reports Kosovo-online. "I cannot prejudge the duration of the dialogue, but it would be ideal if this long and arduous journey was completed within two years. Even Lajcak (Miroslav) is interested in speeding up the dialogue process. We also do not see any differences compared to Gabriel Escobar, which is directly involved in the dialogue process," Bisljimi said. He said that he will not sign any document that is not in the interest of Kosovo. "Otherwise, I don't sign any document that is not fair and acceptable for the state of Kosovo. I don't even have the authority to sign because the Prime Minister and the Parliament are the highest authorities for this issue," Bisljimi said.
