The President of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, again accused Russia of interfering in the internal affairs of his country and added that there is knowledge that it finances "some political entities".

"All state institutions know that Russia interferes in our internal affairs. The last time with intensive participation through its people, its political entities, its installations. People who are Russian agents, that is, people from the Russian service, come from the neighborhood," said Pendarovski in an interview with the weekly Focus.

The president of North Macedonia added that he cannot publicly reveal where exactly they come from, because, as he said, "because it is sensitive information, however, the Russians are trying to influence through those, modernly called hybrid threats, through political propaganda."

According to him, the competent authorities have information about people who came to provoke provocations at the recent civil protests, but also about the financing of "some political entities".

Pendarovski did not want to reveal who it was, but pointed out that it was about "several entities that are in direct correlation with Moscow in the last few years".

"As long as it is politically articulated in the institutions, it is fine and democratic. But, I must say that it is really strange that a few days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the 'Left' (Dimitra Apasiyev's party) invited the Russian ambassador to Sobranja and awarded him for his contribution to bilateral relations, which is unprecedented. This has not happened in any European parliament," said the president of North Macedonia.

Pendarovski added that the recent statement by the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, that the mood of the Macedonian people is contrary to the Euro-Atlantic course of the political elite, is a provocative statement, which is part of political propaganda.
