The Russian Orthodox Church, at the session of the Holy Synod of that church, recognized the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archdiocese as an autocephalous sister church.
In a statement on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church, it is stated that the members of the Synod expressed the hope that the youngest in the family of autocephalous Orthodox churches "will firmly guard the holy Orthodox faith in purity and integrity and maintain fidelity to the Orthodox canonical tradition."
The participants of the meeting also decided to inform Serbian Patriarch Porfiri and Ohrid-Macedonian Archbishop Stefan about the adopted decision.
